Martha started the discos at Hanger Farm to create a fun, inclusive space for adults with learning disabilities. Now volunteering monthly for three years, Martha loves bringing the community together through themed discos where everyone can dance, mingle, and relax—completely free and open to all.

Martha says, ‘Our discos at Hanger Farm started a few years back when I worked at Minstead Trust and noticed a gap in activities for people with learning disabilities. Despite moving on to new ventures, I was really keen to continue running the disco as a volunteer and I have done so now on a monthly basis for the last 3 years.

The disco offers a great space for adults with learning disabilities to mingle, dance, have fun and relax. It’s an inclusive and welcoming environment, open to the community and completely free. I absolutely love being a part of organising this.

It is great to see the people supported by Minstead attending every month, as well as others from the local community. It’s always such fun and we have a different theme each month; April’s theme was Easter!’
